Most registrar forwarding services, including Namecheap and GoDaddy, don’t issue an SSL certificate for your domain. The redirect works for http:// links, but anyone who types https:// or follows an https link gets a security warning or an error.
It reads your DNS records, checks whether your registrar’s forwarding is in use, tests the SSL certificate on the bare domain and on www, follows the redirect chain hop by hop, and lists every problem it finds with a suggested fix.
DNS changes take time to spread. Resolvers keep the old answer until its TTL expires, which usually takes 1 to 4 hours and occasionally up to 48. The DNS propagation checker shows which resolvers have the new value.
No. Pointing your domain at a forwarding service only changes the A or CNAME record. Your MX records stay the same, so email keeps working.
Most issues come from registrar forwarding without HTTPS. Add the domain to Domain Forward, point the A record to 138.68.125.144 (or a CNAME to edge.domain-forward.com) and the certificate and 301 redirect are set up for you.
