Setting up free domain forwarding in 2023

Are you looking for a way to forward your old low-traffic domain to a new address for free? Then look no further! In this article, we will explain how you can use the free package of Domain Forward to do just that. No matter which domain registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, HostGator, etc) you are using.

We have a blog post that gives an overview of the different options you have to forward your domains. We include both free & paid and also technical & non-technical solutions in the overview.

Non-HTTPS forwarding at the registrar

Many of the domain registrars (GoDaddy, Namecheap) offer a way to forward your old domain for free. The problem there is that they usually do not support HTTPS which most browsers now use by default.

See here for our summary of domain forwarding using the registrars.

HTTPS-enabled forwarding using Domain Forward

Domain Forward is an easy-to-use online tool where you can implement forwarding without being an engineer. It has an easy user interface so that you don’t need to follow a lengthy tutorial telling you which config files to change and what Apache redirect rules to configure.

Security-wise, it also supports automatic HTTPS encryption for free. That’s something the registrars don’t. And since there is a generous free tier, you also don’t need to worry about the monthly costs.

You just define the source and destination domains, configure the DNS settings shown in the application and you’re done. Take a look at our getting started guide for more detailed info.
